The Cities of Willow Park and Hudson Oaks have requested wholesale water service from Fort Worth. City staff investigated the feasibility of this request and determined that adequate capacity was available within the existing water transmission and distribution system to provide the requested service. Furthermore, the additional wholesale demand at the western perimeter of the water system would enhance water quality within that pressure plane by reducing water age within the existing storage tanks and transmission mains.

These costs are calculated based on the pro-rata assessment of Willow Park and Hudson Oaks required capacity compared to the existing pipeline capacity, multiplied by the historical costs associated with the design and construction of existing water transmission pipelines. Full payment of these costs must be made prior to connection to the Fort Worth water system. It is anticipated that the Cities of Willow Park and Hudson Oaks will jointly fund a water transmission main extension from a proposed storage tank and pump station located in Willow Park to make the connection to the Fort Worth water system near the intersection of FM 3325 and IH 20. Willow Park and Hudson Oaks will be required to dedicate the water line extension located within the Fort Worth extra territorial jurisdiction to Fort Worth upon completion and acceptance of the construction of the pipeline extension. Fort Worth will bill Hudson Oaks directly for the metered water usage through the connection to the Fort Worth water system. Hudson Oaks will then bill Willow Park for their portion of the total usage. Upon execution, the total number of wholesale water customers served by Fort Worth will increase from a total of 30 to a total of 32. This M&C does not request approval of a contract with a business entity. |
