Section 30.00006(h) of the Texas Government Code requires the City Council to set the salary for the Municipal Judges. On May 15, 2018, the Ad Hoc Municipal Court Advisory Committee voted unanimously to recommend to the City Council a 7% pay rate adjustment in FY 2018, and an additional 7% pay rate adjustment in FY 2019, for a total of a 14% pay rate adjustment over a two year period for the Municipal Judges, the Deputy Chief Judge and the Chief Judge. Ordinance No. 23229-06-2018 (M&C No. G-19293) was adopted by the City Council on June 5, 2018 giving the judges listed below a 7% pay rate adjustment. M&C G-19293 stated that a separate M&C would be submitted in FY 2019 for the additional 7% pay rate adjustment for the 2019 Fiscal Year. The attached ordinance would provide for the 7% pay rate adjustment for FY 2019, to become effective on April 1, 2019. The new pay rate adjustment will set the FY 2019 hourly pay rate for the Deputy Chief Judge, Chief Judge and seven Municipal Judges as follows: $56.93 per hour for Fiscal Year 2018-2019 for Municipal Judges Charles T. Atkinson, Raquel D. Brown, Ann Y. Collins and Patricia L. Summers; $59.37 per hour for Fiscal Year 2018-2019 for Municipal Judges Andrew T. Bradshaw, Claudia A. Martinez, and Robert Neel McDonald; $61.53 per hour for Fiscal Year 2018-2019 for Deputy Chief Simon Gonzalez; $71.56 for Fiscal Year 2018-2019 for Chief Judge James D. Rodgers. The total estimated salary cost for the seven Municipal Court Judges for the remainder of the Fiscal Year 2018 - 2019 is $483,845.44. The total estimated salary cost for the Deputy Chief Judge position for the remainder of the Fiscal Year 2018-2019 is $63,986.00. The total estimated salary cost for the Chief Judge position for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2018-2019 is $74,412.94, for a total estimated cost of $622,244.38.
