SUBJECT: | Adopt Ordinance Increasing Estimated Receipts and Appropriations in the CCPD Capital Projects Fund in the Amount of $680,000.00 from Project Savings for Police Facility Improvements (ALL COUNCIL DISTRICTS) |
RECOMMENDATION: |
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the CCPD Capital Projects Fund in the amount of $680,000.00, from savings on the West Division/Joyce Drive patrol facility project, for the purpose of funding other police facility improvements. |
DISCUSSION: |
The purpose of this Mayor and Council Communication (M&C) is to reallocate and appropriate residual funding from the West Division/Joyce Drive patrol facility project that was funded by the Crime Control and Prevention District ("CCPD") to fund other police facility improvements. The West Division/Joyce Drive patrol facility project was completed in 2018 at costs that were below the allocated budget, resulting in savings totaling an estimated $680,000.00. As presented to the CCPD Board, the Police Department proposes to utilize these project savings to fund improvements to other police facilities. Priority will be given to improvements related to the Tactical Center and Communications with any remaining funds planned to be used toward the Northwest Patrol Division consolidation project or other facility needs. The CCPD Board indicated its approval for the repurposing of this residual, and the approval of this M&C and adoption of the attached ordinance will serve to finalize the approval process and make the funds available for use. This M&C does not request approval of a contract with a business entity. |
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION: |
The Director of Finance certifies that funds are available as appropriated of the CCPD Capital Projects Fund. Prior to an expenditure being incurred, the Police Department has the responsibility to validate the availability of funds.
