Authorize Execution of Amendment No. 1 in the Amount of $229,755.00 to City Secretary Contract No. 50312, an Engineering Agreement with Freese and Nichols, Inc., for a Revised Contract Amount of $3,329,116.00 for Design of the Lake Arlington Lift Station and Force Main, Located in the Carver Heights East and Enchanted Bay Neighborhoods (COUNCIL DISTRICT 5)

It is recommended that the City Council authorize execution of Amendment No. 1 to City Secretary Contract No. 50312, an Engineering Agreement with Freese and Nichols, Inc., in the amount of $229,755.00 for a revised contract in the amount of $3,329,116.00 for Design of the Lake Arlington Lift Station and Force Main, Located in the Carver Heights East and Enchanted Bay Neighborhoods. On January 30, 2018, Mayor and Council Communication (M&C C-28566) the City Council authorized the execution of an Engineering Agreement with Freese and Nichols, Inc., in the amount of $3,099,361.00 for the preparation of plans and specifications for the Lake Arlington Lift Station and Force Main Project.

Amendment No. 1 will provide plans and specifications for a 1,000 linear feet aerial pipe crossing of Lake Arlington to accommodate the proposed force main. The amendment will also allow for additional geotechnical investigations at 8 locations along the force main.

This project will have no impact on the Water Department's Operating Budget when complete.

M/WBE OFFICE:  Freese and Nichols, Inc., is in compliance with City's BDE Ordinance by committing to 33 percent SBE participation on this amendment. The City's SBE goal approved by the MWBE office on this amendment is five percent.

The project is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 5.
