SUBJECT:   Authorize Execution of a Contract with Joe Funk Construction, Inc., in the Amount of $359,846.00 for Bridge Rehabilitation on Four Bridges in Two Locations (COUNCIL DISTRICTS 4 and 7)
RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the City Council authorize the execution of a contract with Joe Funk Construction, Inc., in the amount of $359,846.00 for Bridge Rehabilitation 2018-2 on four bridges in two locations.

 
DISCUSSION:

This contract provides for the repair and rehabilitation of White Settlement Road bridge over Trinity River (east bound and west bound) and Western Center Boulevard bridge over Big Fossil Creek (east bound and west bound) (City Project No. 101663). The major bridge repairs and rehabilitations include retrofitting bridge substructure, bridge deck repair, and metal beam guard fence repair.

Construction for this project is expected to start approximately March 2019 and to be completed by approximately August 2019. Upon completion of the project there will be no anticipated impact on the general fund operating budget.

This project was advertised for bid on September 20, 2018 and September 27, 2018 in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. On October 18, 2018, the following bids were received:

M/WBE OFFICE: Joe Funk Construction, Inc., is in compliance with the City's BDE Ordinance by committing to 10% MBE participation on this project. The City's MBE goal on this project is 10%.

The City reserves the right to increase or decrease quantities of individual pay items within the contract provided that the total contract amount remains within plus or minus 25 percent of the contract award.

This project is located in COUNCIL DISTRICTS 4 and 7.
 
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION:

The Director of Finance certifies that upon approval of the above recommendation, funds are available in the General Capital Projects fund as previously appropriated. Prior to an expenditure being incurred, the participating department has the responsibility to validate the availability of funds.
