DISCUSSION:

The Water Department is requesting the formal acceptance of a cash donation of $10,000 from Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. in support of the 5th annual Fix-A-Leak Week 5k Race and Earth Party event.

The Fix-A-Leak Week 5k Run is an annual event held in partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency that raises awareness of the need to repair household water leaks. Proceeds from the event, which is planned in conjunction with the Fort Worth Runner's Club, are donated to the City's Utility Bill Assistance Program. Earth Party, which began in 2011 to celebrate Cowtown Clean Up participants and promote environmental awareness, is hosted by a collaboration of City Departments and Keep Fort Worth Beautiful.

Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. supports a number of educational and community engagement events in the communities they serve. As the title sponsor of the 2019 Earth Party, its donation will be used to promote environmental stewardship and community engagement at the event and will provide for the event entertainment. It is estimated that 1500 participants will attend the Earth Day celebration. As a sponsor, Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. is recognized as a leader in the fight to end litter, conserve water, and create a healthier environment in Fort Worth.

This M& C does not request approval of a contract with a business entity.

FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION:

The Director of Finance Services certifies that upon approval of the above recommendation, funds will be available in the current Water Department operating budget, as appropriated, in the Water & Sewer Fund. The Water Department is responsible for the collection and deposit of funds donated to the City.
