The purpose of this M&C is to authorize execution of a construction contract with Basecom, Inc., in an amount Not to Exceed $247,173.00,which includes 7.5 percent for the Owner's Construction Allowance, for the Fort Worth Convention Center Ballroom Lighting Upgrade, for a total anticipated project cost of $300,000.00.
The Fort Worth Convention Center offers more than 250,000 square feet of exhibit space, nearly 60,000 square feet of flexible meeting space and a 28,160 square foot ballroom. As a part of the facility's ongoing capital improvements, the ballroom lighting will be upgraded to provide better quality lighting, require less maintenance and be more energy efficient. A professional services agreement was administratively executed with Summit Engineering, Inc. in the amount of $23,500.00 to provide engineering design, construction documents and construction contract administration services.
The City issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) on August 9, 2018 and received two proposals for the upgrade project from electrical contractors. These firms were:
• All Fair Electric, Inc.
• Basecom, Inc.
These two firms provided the Post Proposal–Pre Award Submittals to be further evaluated by the City. These complete proposals were reviewed by members of the Public Events Department, Office of Business Diversity and the Property Management Department and were evaluated for best value based on the criteria set forth in the Request for Proposals. The selection team recommends award of the construction contract to Basecom, Inc..

In accordance with Chapter 7, Article III, Section 7-47, Section 109.2.1 of the City Code, Building, Trade Permit and Urban Forestry Fees are waived for this project.
M/WBE OFFICE - Basecom Inc. is in compliance with the City's BDE Ordinance by committing to 10% MBE participation on this project. The City's MBE goal on this project is 10%. Additionally, Basecom Inc. is a certified M/WBE firm.
The Fort Worth Convention Center is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 9, but serves all Fort Worth residents in ALL COUNCIL DISTRICTS.
