Staff from the City of Fort Worth, City of Haslet, and Tarrant County recommends a minor boundary adjustment to clean up city limits for Bonds Ranch Road and portions of Blue Mound Road and Harmon Road, as depicted in Exhibit A. The existing boundaries of these roads are divided among the City of Fort Worth, the City of Haslet and Tarrant County. Tarrant County initiated the discussion as part of the planning process for capital improvements to Bonds Ranch Road. The City of Haslet will release extraterritorial jurisdiction and city limits to the City of Fort Worth as depicted in Exhibit A. While Haslet is fully developed on the Haslet sides of these roadways, there is still vacant land to the south and west within Fort Worth city limits, and thus opportunities for additional roadway improvements. Improvements to Harmon Road are not planned for the near future; however, this section of roadway is vital to providing access to commercial properties to the north and east. This boundary adjustment will clarify maintenance responsibility, traffic management and related services for these roadways. Texas Local Government Code authorizes adjacent municipalities to make mutually agreeable changes in their boundaries for areas that are less than 1,000 feet in width. The purpose of these changes in boundaries is to promote orderly development, public safety and effective delivery of municipal services. If the City Council approves the proposed boundary adjustment, the ordinance will be executed between the Cities of Fort Worth and Haslet. The proposed boundary adjustment will establish these thoroughfares as located in Fort Worth and within COUNCIL DISTRICT 7. This contract will be with a governmental entity, state agency or public institution of higher education: City of Haslet.
