The City Plan Commission recommended approval of the MTP Amendment at the September 17, 2017 public hearing. The Transportation and Public Works Department (TPW) is requesting an amendment to the Master Thoroughfare Plan (MTP) for Blue Mound Road (FM 156) from 362 feet south of Bayne Road to Bonds Ranch Road. The MTP, Section 1 describes actions that trigger corresponding MTP amendment processes. An amendment is required for right-of-way narrowing for an MTP street, using established thoroughfare principles and width ranges. TPW is request a change from a six-lane, 130-foot right-of-way section to a six-lane, 120-foot right-of-way section.
This change will allow construction of the roadway within existing constraints of the existing Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) right-of-way. In the interim, TPW will construct four lanes within the 120-foot right-of-way section by establishing the ultimate pavement edge adjustments will be made within the center median. The MTP amendment is in compliance with the Subdivision Ordinance, and is supported by the Master Thoroughfare Plan team.
This section of Blue Mound Road is in Fort Worth's extraterritorial jurisdiction within Tarrant County and closest to COUNCIL DISTRICT 7.
