RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the City Council authorize the temporary closure of a 200-ft segment of Gilvin Street between East 2nd Street and the east ingress/egress of Purina Mills factory for construction related to the IH-35 project from October 18, 2017 through November 19, 2017.

 
DISCUSSION:

North Tarrant Infrastructure requests the temporary closure of a 200-ft segment of Gilvin Street between East 2nd Street and the east ingress/egress of the Purina Mills factory from October 18, 2017 through November 19, 2017.  This request is part of the I-35 expansion project and is necessary to relocate a water main and install a new waterline crossing and storm drain.  Water utilities in this area are plus or minus 11 feet deep and are near the water table and shoring will be required to support the walls of the excavations.

Operations at Purina Mills will not be interrupted.

Street closures in excess of ten-days requires City Council approval.  TPW Traffic Management has reviewed and concurs with this request.  This temporary closure is in Council District 9.

This M&C does not request approval of a contract with a business entity.

 
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION:

The Director of Finance certifies that this action will have no material effect on City funds.
