RECOMMENDATION: |
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the execution of a Lease Agreement with RioKim Montgomery, LP, for approximately 1,044 square feet of space located at 2600 W. 7th Street, Fort Worth, Texas to be used as a police substation by the Fort Worth Police Department. |
DISCUSSION: |
The Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) has identified 1,044 square feet of ground floor retail space in Montgomery Plaza, located at 2600 W. 7th Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76107 to be used as a police substation serving the W. 7th Street area. The landlord, RioKim Montgomery, LP, has agreed to charge no rent in return for the FWPD presence in the area. The FWPD will be responsible for the cost of the IT infrastructure installation and the monthly utilities for the space. Approval of this Mayor and Council Communication authorizes the City and RioKim Montgomery, LP, to enter into a Lease Agreement to provide for a police substation in the W. 7th Street area. This lease commences on the executed date, terminates on September 30, 2019, and includes two successive one year renewal terms to terminate on September 30, 2021. This lease will provide for additional Police presence in the West 7th Street area. This property is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 9. |
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION: |
The Director of Finance certifies that funds are available in the Police Department's Crime Control and Prevention District Fund for the IT infrastructure installation and the monthly utility expense. Prior to an expenditure being incurred, the Police Department has the responsibility to validate the availability of funds. |
