It is recommended that the City Council authorize the temporary closure of a 300-foot segment of Lubbock Avenue between Lowden and W. Bowie from August 16, 2017 through October 1, 2019.

Linbeck Construction, Inc., requests the temporary closure of a 300-foot segment of Lubbock Avenue between Lowden and W. Bowie Streets from August 16, 2017 through October 1, 2019 to construct the Texas Christian University (TCU) Academy of Tomorrow.  The TCU Academy of Tomorrow is an expansion of the Neeley School of Business to include the demolition of Dan B. Rogers Hall, the construction of a new academic facility and the renovation of the existing business facilities.  This project represents a total square footage of approximately 317,000 square feet on the TCU campus.  The closure of this segment of Lubbock Avenue is necessary to facilitate construction of the project.

Street closures in excess of ten-days requires City Council approval.  Transportation and Public Works Traffic Management has reviewed and concurs with this request.  

This temporary closure is in COUNCIL DISTRICT 9.  

This M&C does not request approval of a contract with a business entity.
