It is recommended that the City Council authorize the temporary closure of N. Hampton Street between Cold Springs and Pharr, Johnson Street between N. Hays and N. Hampton and Hays Street between Johnson and Pharr to install water, sanitary sewer services and curb and gutter from August 16, 2017 through April 13, 2018.

Flow-Line Construction, Inc., requests the temporary closure of N. Hampton Street between Cold Springs and Pharr, Johnson Street between N. Hays and N. Hampton and Hays Street between Johnson and Pharr from August 16, 2017 through April 13, 2018 to replace 24-inch and 12-inch water lines and an 8-inch sewer line.  A 12-foot to 14-foot deep replacement of a sewer line requires a large excavation footprint and therefore the closure request.  This request is in the interest of public and worker safety.

The Rock Island neighborhood is undergoing re-development and townhomes are soon to be constructed along N. Hampton Street.  Vehicular traffic along these streets is minimal.

Local businesses and residents are notified of the closure and detour route.

Street closures in excess of ten-days require City Council approval.  Transportation & Public Works Traffic Management has reviewed and concurs with this request.  This temporary closure is in Council District 2.

This M&C does not request approval of a contract with a business entity.
