North Tarrant Infrastructure requests the temporary closure of an 800-feet segment of Northside Drive from June 5, 2017 through July 31, 2017 to include the intersections of Northside Drive/Yucca Avenue at Interstate-35. This is an infrastructure improvement and is part of the I-35 expansion project. This construction includes existing pavement demolition, excavation of sub-grade, storm drain removal/replacement, new asphalt pavement, new traffic signal installation, pavement markings, new concrete curbing, and new sidewalks. Because of prolonged reductions in traffic flow with phased closures, heavy equipment working adjacent to through vehicle lanes, and limited ingress/egress for construction equipment and trucks a temporary full closure is requested. This also is an effort to minimize the impact on the Oakhurst neighborhood, nearby Calvary Church and School, and to minimize safety risks for workers and the traveling public. Upon the beginning of construction all signalization will be deactivated with traffic in free-flow and on-ramp traffic detoured to Pharr Street and NE 28th Street. Local businesses are notified of the closure and detour route and electronic message boards are currently in place. Street closures in excess of ten-days require City Council approval. TPW Traffic Management has reviewed and concurs with this request. This temporary closure is in COUNCIL DISTRICT 2, Mapsco 63K. This M&C does not request approval of a contract with a business entity. |
