Under this Artwork Commission Agreement, Gregory Beck (Artist) will create a visual landmark for the site that highlights the history and identity of East Fort Worth. The Artist's work shall be based on the approved final design, titled "Pieces of Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow." It will be composed of colorful, painted, large-scale, aluminum, jigsaw puzzle-shaped elements featuring images of current-day community members along with historic events and places that capture the distinct personality of East Fort Worth. The artwork will wrap around the northwest corner of the East Division Police Station at Weiler Boulevard and East Lancaster Avenue.
Artist Jack Mackie's 2009 East Lancaster Public Art Plan recommended a North Texas artist be selected to create an artwork at the Fort Worth Police Department's East Division Police Station.
The public art contract manager conducted a competitive process for artist selection, which was overseen by the Fort Worth Art Commission (FWAC), for design and commission of an artwork for the East Division Police Station. On April 13, 2015, the FWAC approved the selection panel's recommendation of Gregory Beck for the project. On August 13, 2015, the Artist was placed under City Secretary Contract No. 46927 to develop a preliminary and a final design for artwork at this location.
The project is included in the Fort Worth Public Art Fiscal Year 2017 Annual Work Plan adopted by the Fort Worth City Council on October 25, 2016 (M&C G-18667). Funding for this public art project was appropriated in the Public Art Plan for the 2004 Capital Improvement Program, adopted by the Fort Worth City Council on May 17, 2005 as M&C G-14801.

M/WBE Office - The City's overall M/WBE goal for the Fort Worth Public Art Program is 25 percent of total capital project dollars expended on public art annually.
Art Commission Action: On September 12, 2016, the FWAC approved the Artist's preliminary design and on February 13, 2017, the FWAC approved the Artist's final design and recommended the Artist be placed under a commission contract.
This project is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 5, Mapsco 62S. Council Member Gyna Bivens concurs with the FWAC's recommendation to proceed with the commissioning of the East Division Police Station Public Art project.
