DATE: 2/21/2017 REFERENCE NO.: **C-28118 LOG NAME: 21CONVENTION CENTER MAJOR RENOVATIONS
CODE: C TYPE: CONSENT PUBLIC HEARING: NO
SUBJECT:

Authorize Amendment to the Fiscal Year 2017 Public Events Capital Improvement Plan Adopted January 13, 2016, Mayor and Council Communication G-18914, to Increase Appropriations in the Amount of $20,000.00 for the Motorized Partition Project and Adopt Appropriation Ordinance (COUNCIL DISTRICT 9)

RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the City Council:

1.  Authorize an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2017 Public Events Capital Improvement Plan to increase appropriations in the amount of $20,000.00 from available funds; and

2.  Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing appropriations in the Culture & Tourism DFW Revenue Share Capital Project Fund in the amount of $20,000.00 for the Fort Worth Convention Center Motorized Partition Project (No. 100147).

DISCUSSION:

The Public Events Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan FY2016 - FY2020 included adopted January 12, 2016 (M&C G-18635) $350,000.00 for Convention Center Major Renovations in capital outlay.  This specifically included the replacement of a 49 year old motorized partition.  A Job Order was issued to the City's Job Order Contractor (Mark IV Construction, Inc.) to complete the partition replacement project within the budget.  However, unforeseen conditions associated with the differences between the original drawings and actual structural and fire barrier conditions required additional scope of work and fee.

To complete the project, Staff recommends the City Council adopt an ordinance amending Fiscal Year 2017 Capital appropriation ordinance to increase appropriations in the amount of $20,000.00 in the Culture & Tourism DFW Revenue Share Capital Fund from available funds.

This project is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 9, but serves ALL COUNCIL DISTRICTS.

This M&C does not request approval of a contract with a business entity.

FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION:

The Director of Finance certifies that upon approval of the above recommendations and adoption of the attached appropriation ordinance, funds will be available in the Culture & Tourism DFW Revenue Share Capital Fund.
