In order to reconcile previously received funds in the Special Donations Fund and establish the financial framework to support Worth Reading programs and buy additional books and materials for the Library Department, an appropriations ordinance is needed. The Library Department receives special use revenues from donations and other designated funding. These funds are used to provide additional support for programs and events at libraries and to buy additional materials for public use. In prior years, the Library has received donations from the Fort Worth Public Library Foundation, the Friends of the Fort Worth Public Library, the Virginia O'Donnell Trust, Briggs Freeman Real Estate Brokerage, the Fort Worth Genealogical Society, the Turner Living Trust, The Parenting Center, the Elizabeth Crockett Chapter NSDAR, Financial Executives Int'l, G. Hill Lattimore, EKB Hospitality Associates, LLC, Elizabeth A. Battista, S.E. Havis, J.A. & J.Z. Davis, C & R Estrada, JF & CJ Patrick, and C & G Yocom. After review of the actual receipts in the Special Donations Fund, Staff has determined that a portion of the receipts from prior years have not yet been appropriated by the City Council. This Mayor and Council Communication is subject to the restriction that the total amount of all such appropriations will not exceed the actual amount received by the Special Donations Fund that are assigned to the Library Department. Furthermore, the Special Donations Fund is subject to the requirement that the Chief Financial Officer periodically report the allocations to the City Council throughout the fiscal year and are limited to the following projects: Project Funding: Source | Amount | Undesignated Donations to be used for Worth Reading | $200,000.00 | Bucks for Books donations for materials | $150,000.00 | TOTAL | $350,000.00 |
